Hello Lovely Lady,
I thought I’d share some insight with you on how to choose the right coach for you and/or your business, and why choosing the right coach for you is super important.
Before I go into these tips, understanding what a coach does and knowing if you need a coach or not is your first step before proceeding.
Firstly, understanding that a coach is someone who is going to guide you on a processes or journey to help you to successfully achieve your goals, dreams and desires.
A coach is there to support you along the way with tools, techniques, knowledge, wisdom and encouragement and the right form of energy that is needed to keep you focused and on track; mentally, emotionally, and physically.
You also do need to know, as I prefer to be honest with you, that a coach is not someone who is going to fix or save you and do the work for you.
A true coach will teach you “the how”, and show you the best way forward for “you”, and then support you in taking self-responsible action steps to show up and do the work, whilst guiding you along the way.
Working with a coach, especially one that is the right fit for you and energetic match, can be extremely empowering and will ultimately help you achieve your goals a lot faster than you would on your own, especially if you are feeling stuck or blocked, feel you need direction and support or if you wish to upgrade your life or business or both in some way.
So, there’s a couple of things that I think are important to factor in when choosing the right coach.
The coach you choose should be a good role model and positive influence on you and make you feel good about yourself, and that what you wish to achieve is totally possible for you too. A coach should never promote fear in you or make you feel bad about who you are, where you are or judge you in any way or form.
It’s so important that you feel a connection with the coach that you’re going to be working with and resonate with their messaging and way in which they show up.
By this I mean that you choose a coach who has a similar vibe, energy, style, personality, character, brand voice and ways of doing things that you resonate with or that where you wish to shift towards. They have similar morals, values, and attitude towards life that you do, and you both feel that you are the perfect fit and a good energetic match to work together to achieve your goals.
Generally, a coach will offer you a complimentary call of some kind, such as a connectivity, clarity or discovery call, to chat about things first before you enrol in their program, which is crucial, to ensure that they are the right coach for you and your needs. If the fit is right, that’s wonderful. If not, they will serve you best by referring you to an alternative option that you may need.
Your coach has experience in what you need, they solve the problem you may have, they offer the transformation or results you desire and basically you need what they do and offer. Ideally you want to choose someone who may also have achieved success personally in their own life in this area and with others in the area you need coaching.
This is extremely important, there has to be a high level of trust that goes both ways, when it comes to working with a coach. If you follow quite a few of these points you will be on the right track, however a priority for this point is no 1 to trust yourself.
If something feels right about someone you are considering working with, its right and if something feels off, again, trust yourself, it’s probably off. This doesn’t necessarily mean they are not trustworthy per say, you may just feel “off” as you are not the right fit or energetic match to work together.
A great coach will most definitely teach you “the how” but they shall acknowledge your temperament, personality and how you operate at your best by helping you to pull out your strengths and talents and show you how to use these in the best way and form for you to self-actualise.
A sound coach will not tell you to change who you are or be something you not and push you to go against your true self. You want a coach who brings out the best in you and helps you to open up to your unique power and potential and to be the best you can be in a way that feels easy for you.
A coach will generally have a set of tools and techniques that are going to help you to get the results that you desire, and they shall share these with you and teach them to you so that you can integrate them into your life and business and use them at any time, setting you up for success.
The coach you work with should always want you to win and always has your best interest at heart. They are transparent and honest with you in the way they help you achieve your goals, and you get a genuine feeling of this. Quick note, I say 2nd biggest cheerleader, as a great coach will teach you to be your first and biggest cheerleader.
Another point you may not have considered when choosing a coach is the model in which the coaching takes place. Is the model a good fit for your personality and the way in which you like to work and learn?
If you prefer a more personalised experience, private coaching is going to be your priority choice. If you enjoy a group coaching experience, then a community based option is your ideal match. Or if you prefer to work through things alone in your own time and space, a self-study option is the perfect fit for you.
Does your coach add in mindset work, do they understand how the mind works and do they have experience and training working with mindset tools and techniques to help you cultivate a healthy mindset that is in alignment with the results you wish to achieve? This one is a personal preference of mine as I know how important it is to work on your mindset in order to shift, upgrade, up level or move forward in anyway or form.
As you read through these am sure some points jumped out at you and resonated with you more than others did, so I suggest making a mental note of these points when choosing a coach for you and your business, as these shall be the priority boxes for you to tick.
I am sure you can see now it’s not just about how many followers or likes a coach has, it’s a lot deeper than this when it comes to choosing the right coach for you. When you are the right fit and an energetic match and there is complete trust and compatibility you will achieve your results that much faster, you will be moving forward in your path of least resistance, and this is when you shall successfully achieve your goals.
On a final note, always remember, Alignment is key.
