Hello Lovely Lady
As a female entrepreneur and heart centered woman, I know that you are managing multiple roles in your business, all whilst juggling and wearing different hats in your personal life at the same time.
Even for the best of the best and the top multitaskers out there, which I know you are, there are often moments of overwhelm when it all gets too much and you are faced with a To Do List a mile long.
The part where it can get frustrating for you is when you sit down in front of your laptop to work, you end up doing everything and anything else besides what you are actually meant to be doing.
Beside this being an avoidance tactic, when you are overwhelmed this is totally normal and most of the time this happens because you have so much to do, you just don’t know where to start… so you end up doing nothing and kinda end up fumbling around, wasting valuable time.
And for you this is not a great place to be in when you know you should be creating and producing and getting on top of your work.
This is why I am super excited to share my personal 7 Step formula with you, as these steps will help you to overcome overwhelm right away, so that you can get back on track and fast.
Basically, this is exactly what this is, just stop. Stop scrolling, stop typing, stop writing, stop researching, stop whatever you doing (unless you are driving your car or are operating heavy machinery, in this case rather stop when you arrive at your destination or its safe to do so). This first step when working is a must as trying to create and produce from a place of overwhelm isn’t going to get you top results.
This is where Pilates breathing comes in super handy. Whilst keeping your shoulders relaxed, breathe in through your nose 5 counts and sigh the air out through your mouth 5 counts. You can do this about 3 – 5 times each. You probably haven’t noticed, but when you are overwhelmed you are more than likely holding your breathe a lot and your shoulders are up by your ears, blocking your path of least resistance.
Step outside, or if it’s raining just step into another room that is away from your workspace. This step will shift you from the “state” that you are in so that can quickly get back into your personal essence and vibe.
Right, this is a great question to ask yourself. What is it that you need and want to achieve? (This is your priority focus.) With this step you will redirect your attention to the most important tasks at hand so you can restart and get yourself back on track.
In relation to your priority focus, what do you need to do to achieve this? Now you can pull out your notepad and pen and jot these points down, which is my favourite part as I absolutely love making lists and planning.
Now from your list you have just created, highlight (in your favourite colour of course) the one point that you know is your starting point. You can then reorder each point in sequence just so that you have an awesome task list and plan in place that you can follow step by step. I also highly recommend ticking off each step as you go, as this is always such a great way to stay motivated.
This is your final and most important step. Now that you have and know your starting point (as its highlighted in your favourite colour), you can head on over, back to your laptop and start getting things done.
Plus the BONUS STEP is that you have also created a step by step plan for yourself STEP 8, “Take off where you left off” ; and at any stage that you may feel stuck or overwhelmed you can just go back to your list and take off where you left off… And makes staying on track super easy for you moving forward.
